Swanage Boat Charters Ltd reserves the right to change prices, deposits, bookings and details without notice.

Cancellation by us

We require minimum numbers for a dive to take place. These are typically as follows:

  • Local - 2 divers
  • Offshore - 4 divers
  • Further Offshore - 6 divers

Even if you have booked on a boat, the minimum number has to be reached for the trip to take place. Example: You may book the first two spaces to an offshore dive site. We will do our best to fill the remaining spaces. If this is not possible, the skipper may revise the trip planned or cancel the dive. In this case you will not be charged or you may be given an option for another dive site or boat.

Weather & Boats

Diving is weather and tide dependant. We reserve the right to change boats, dive sites or departure times according to weather and operational requirements. On occasions due to sea, weather or safety considerations, boat operators may cancel the trip with minimum notice. In this instance your payment will be credited to your account or refunded at your option.

You are advised to check your registered email before leaving to travel to Swanage as cancellations will be sent via email.

The Divers

No check is made of divers' qualifications or fitness to dive. Diving is a potentially hazardous sport and should only be undertaken by suitably trained people. The skipper reserves the right to refuse to allow a diver into the water. You are responsible for the conduct of your own dive and for ensuring that you are trained and equipped for the dive site and that your equipment is safely stored on the boat. All dives require an S.M.B. (surface marker buoy). Dive times must not exceed 60 minutes (surface to surface) unless otherwise agreed by the skipper.

Supervision

This will be of a limited nature. Help and advice on dive times can only be given in general as it is up to divers themselves to decide on dive plans. BSAC and PADI dive tables are available.

Diver List

A list of divers' names, emergency contact name, contact number, cylinder size, gas mix, maximum dive time will be required on the day of the diving. A form will be provided for you to complete.

Liability

The boat and skipper are fully insured for third party liability while you are aboard; you are not insured when in the water. Equipment you may lose or damage onboard is not covered. You are asked to beware when boarding or leaving the vessel.

Oxygen

The boat carries oxygen and the skipper is trained to use it. The standard operational procedure for the administration of oxygen is that if a diver goes on to oxygen the skipper will inform the Coastguard that the diver is receiving first aid. The CG will then make the decision as to whether the casualty stays on the boat or is taken off. Oxygen is first aid and the skipper is under instructions to follow this course of action.
